AFS FLORIDA AREA TEAM 2006/2007 HOSTING ORIENTATION CALENDAR

Host Family & Liaison Orientation (mandatory)

Who: All Florida Host Families parents and children who will be hosting an exchange student for either the year or semester.
Where: Each chapter should individually hold this meeting at a designated central location to their respective host families.
When: Preferred time is between July 15-29, 2006; determined by each chapter.
Leader: Chapter Orientation Coordinator and/or Chapter Host Coordinator or Chapter Support Coordinator
Budget: FL AT Budget; each chapter submits consolidated expense report to John Gontkof.

Arrival “Welcome” Camp (mandatory)

Who: All Florida exchange students arriving on either the year or semester program.
Where: Washington DC metro area. Florida students will be combined with Capitol AT students for orientation as a group before flying to Florida.
When: Upon August 10-12, 2006 arrival date.
Leader: Capitol AT Orientation Coordinator along with either Florida AT Chair, Jim Nolan and Central FL Area Representative, Kris Quiros.
Budget: FL AT Budget: Florida AT to reimburse Capitol AT based on percentage of students in attendance. Florida AT budget is to also reimburse J.Nolan & K.Quiros.

Post-Arrival Orientation (mandatory)

Who: Individual Florida chapters’ year program exchange students
Where: Each chapter should individually hold this meeting at a designated central location to their respective host families.
When: Preferably during the 3rd week of September 2006; determined by each chapter.
Leader: Chapter Orientation Coordinator and/or Chapter Support Coordinator
Budget: FL AT Budget; each chapter submits consolidated expense report to John Gontkof.

Mid-Year/Semester Welcome Camp (mandatory)

Who: All Florida hosted exchange students, from all chapters & around the state, who arrive in August and the semester students who arrive at the beginning of January.
Where: Tampa Chapter to host; location to be determined
When: January 20-21, 2007
Leader: Area Team Orientation Coordinator and/or Chapter Orientation Coordinator
Budget: FL AT Budget

Pre-Return Camp (mandatory)

Who: All Florida hosted exchange students, from all chapters & around the state, on both the year and semester programs.
Where: Brevard Chapter to host
When: March 30- April 1, 2007
Leader: Area Team Orientation Coordinator and/or Chapter Orientation Coordinator
Budget: FL AT Budget

End of Stay Camp (mandatory)

Who: All Florida hosted exchange students, from all chapters & around the state, on both the year and semester programs.
Where: South Florida Chapter to host
When: June 26 - 27, 2007 (dates TBD)
Leader: Florida AT Orientation Coordinator and/or Chapter Orientation Coordinator
Budget: FL AT Budget

NOTE: For all chapter initiated orientations, please determine the date early so you may provide the date for your host families to hold on their calendars. Families should be made aware of mandatory orientation dates before the Host Family Orientation date.

Pre-Departure Orientation (mandatory) – for American Abroad (Sending) Students

Where: Each of the chapters should individually hold this meeting at a designated central location to their respective Sending Students (try and combine with a hosting orientation, if possible).
Leader: Chapter Orientation Coordinator or Chapter Sending Coordinator
Budget: FL AT Budget
